Happy Budday Dhoni

Today is Indian cricket team's captain Dhoni's birthday and how well he has gifted himself with a series win in Carribbean, being awarded as Man of the series there and to top it all retaining his ICC #1 Ranking in the list of batsmen in ODI's. A fitting response from him to all his critics and detractors and especially over the top Indian media. I cannot resist to mention that Yuvi has climbed up the batsmen ranking in ODI's and he is ranked#2 after the just concluded West Indies series.

Wealthy status - Far fetched

'Alm Aadmi' ka budget was finally out and people across the standards, sector and lifestyle were waiting for PranabDa with bated breath. He covered but one thing that caught my attention is wealth tax will be applicable for those with cumulative wealth of more than Rs 30 lacs @ 1% on every 1 lac above the Rs 30 lac limit from Apr 1, 2010. This limit till now was Rs 15 lac. To me if you want to be called "wealthy" the limit just got stretched so would you.

Snaparazzi!!!

Gurgaon would be the first one to have a fully online registration of voters says TOI. The reason of chosing Gurgaon says Chief Electoral Officer is because the people here are more computer-savvy so he perceives. If he is talking about couple of kms stretch on either side of the NH-8. He is right but beyond that neither he is sure not the person who might give you a quizzical look if you say the word "online". Anyhow let's appreciate this step and hope its succesful.

Gay Ho!

Section 377 altered . Frankly speaking I have only slight idea what this section says but this change brings an air of freedom to some read homosexuals. Now "Gays" are really gay :-)

And the sentimental saga starts

As the night of 14th June was closing in, the Indian cricket fans were watching their team fighting against a possible exit from the Twenty20 world cup. In the end the cricket team lost the battle and are now out of the tournament.
Now, starts the real story with critics rising again to do what they know best, not to forget media bashing and fans losing their cool. I agree Indian team did not play up to its potential, controversies off the field, strategies backfiring did not help their cause either. And during such times of adversities its the captain who has to bear the brunt, this time its no exception. Now the fun starts, so, I returned back from office and inquisitively switched on the T.V to see the progress of bashing and there it was, one of the news channel running an SMS contest asking viewers if we should forgive Dhoni or not(as though he has left us without any livelihood)? I did not see any such contest asking if we should give tickets to candidates with criminal records during elections.

Wouldn't that have been much more critical and detrimental to Indians? Anyways coming back to the contest, so the result was along the expected lines with the "NO" bar graph standing tall at 72% rising high on emotional fuel and looking down at the "YES" graph standing at a meagre 28%. That was the fans' verdict but I feel this question of forgiving popped because the man himself MSD apologized through the media. How many cricket captains before have done that for even shoddier performances than yesterday?
With this series, alright the world cup all past efforts of this team and Dhoni have been erased off from the public memory. The defeat in this world cup is over weighing the 2007 world cup victory, triumphs on Australian soil, the ever eluding New Zealand series. More important than all these victories it was the new emerging Indian team with refreshing approach towards the game and playing 'fearless' brand of cricket. The flag bearer of this radical change was none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni. To my surprise some even opined that anyone of Yuvi, Zaheer or Bhajji should be the next T20 captain to which Ajay Jadeja replied that MSD's worst is still better than the above players' best day simply because he is experienced now and tasted success in different countries and different form of the games and I felt he made sense.

Well so much about India's defeat as a fan I would like to support them during this time and wish them all the best for next match and coming series. Although I know what I will get in tomorrow's newspaper, it will be some more "bashing".
The next T20 world cup is in about 9 months time in the Carribbean.
